Before
commercial production of any 78 rpm |
|
gramophone-record,
the songs had to pass |
|
through
a quality test subject to
authority's |
|
approval. For
this official procedure there was |
|
a practice of
issueing a single copy of special |
| |
record, commonly
known as "Test Record". |
|
These records
were generally single sided and |
|
did not bear any
printed label of any company |
|
but a
normal white label with hand
written |
|
information
related to that particular song, |
| |
singer, matrix, recording date etc.
If a song |
|
would get
approval for commercial release, |
|
the white label
would rubber stamped "OK"/ |
|
"Passed",
else "Cancelled"/"Rejected". These |
|
records have a
historical importance related to |
|
many authentic
documents related to Bengali |
|
Gramophone-songs. |
